Check-in starts at 5:30 PM at the Pagoda Hotel ballroom and should end at 8:30 PM.

Thursday, May 14, 2015 6:30 - 7:30 PM

The Advanced Band will perform their Aloha Spring Concert at 6:30 pm in the McKinley High School Auditorium. Join us as we bid farewell to the 8th graders as they perform one last time as Washington Middle School students.

Advanced band students will meet at McKinley Auditorium with their instruments. Please wear your dark green uniform shirt, black slacks, black socks and black shoes. Stands and large percussion instruments will be borrowed from the McKinley bandroom. Help is needed to move things back and forth.  All students should eat before or after the concert. Food will not be available at the event.

Students in the Advanced band will miss their afternoon classes. The bus leaves at 12:30 PM, so be ready to go! Wear you dark green uniform shirt, long black pants, black socks and black shoes.

At last! Come on over to the Washington Middle School Cafeteria for an evening to remember! See the students perform their final concert of the year and compare it to the sounds of their last performance a mere 5 months ago!

Head on over to the Ewa Makai Middle School cafeteria for a day of great beginning and intermediate band performances. Students from around the state will play for the adjudicators and receive ratings for their performances.

Come on down to the Washington Middle School cafeterial on Friday, April 17, 2015 for a joint concert with Washington Middle and Maui Waena Intermediate Advanced band students. They did a fantastic job in Maui and will be here to share their talent with the Honolulu community. Bring all your friends and family for an evening of fantastic music!

Please join us for our Potluck to welcome the Maui Waena Middle School band as they practice with the WMS Advanced Band. Students will be participating in a joint practice. Please sign up for your contribution and bring it to the WMS cafeteria by 6:00 pm on Thursday, April 16.

Here is the final itinerary for parents. Students will get their own copy at the last practice. 

Luggage information:

• everyone is allowed 2 hand carry items

  • smaller instruments must carry their own instruments in their hand carry

  • try to put it into your larger bag

  • do not check in baggage unless you have a large instrument

• Be sure to read through the Band Trip Handbook for all the details covered at the mandatory meeting

If your child is in Advanced Band, please confirm their participation in our upcoming trip to Maui by paying your deposit. If you have not yet selected your payment option, please fill out the form and turn in all deposits bry Friday, October 31, 2014.

Option 1:

     Full $450 payment by Friday, October 31, 2014.

Option 2:

     $100 non-refundable deposit by Friday, October 31, 2014.

     $350 balance payment by Wednesday, November 26, 2014.

Option 3:

     $100 non-refundable deposit by Friday, October 31, 2014

     $100 payment #2 by Wednesday, November 26, 2014.

     $100 payment #3 by Friday, December 19, 2014.

     $100 payment #4 by Wednesday, January 28, 2015.

     $50 or balance payment #5 by Saturday, February 28, 2015.

Credits will be applied to totals after the 7-11 Lima Books fundraiser is completed. Options for refunds or carry over credit will be discussed at that time.

Calling all parents! Please join the Band Boosters at our next meeting on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at 7:00 pm in the band room. We are looking for more participation from 6th and 7th grade parents! If you have any questions, please contact Mr. Ujimori. Hope to see you there!

Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at 7:00 p.m.

This is a mandatory meeting for all Advanced Band students who are planning to attend this year's Maui trip and their parents.

The meeting will start at 7:00 pm. Students and at least one parent must attend. A $100 non-refundable deposit will be due by the end of the meeting for all students planning on making the trip. The rest of the payment plan will be discussed at the meeting.

The bank fee on any returned or non-cashable checks will be charged to the account owner.

Thursday, August 14, 2014 at 7:30 pm

The first General Band Parents meeting sponsored by the WMS Band Boosters will be held in the bandroom after the WMS Open House on Thursday, August 14. All parents of band students are encouraged to head on over to the bandroom at 7:30, after meeting with your child's teachers. We will be electing our new Band Booster executive board, starting our general band fundraiser and doing an overview of the year. Please plan to attend with your children.

July 20, 2014

The Band Boosters want to thank everyone who came out to our first fundraiser of the year on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Kapiolani Park. We sold KC Drive In Waffledogs and water at the Ukulele Festival. We had a very hot, successful day!

August 14, 2014

The Band Boosters will start collecting pre-orders after the general band meeting on Thursday, August 14, 2014. Pre-order forms will be distributed at the meeting and will be collected in the bandroom until August 20. Products will be ready to pick up between 5:30-8:00 pm on Wednesday, August 27.  If you require more product after the start of the sale, please bring in the request forms and payment to Mr. Ujimori.

September 28, 2014

We will be serving shave ice to the riders in the Century Bike Ride at the Kailua Intermediate rest stop. Please see Mr. Ujimori to get a permissio form if you are interested in helping. We are looking for about 10-12 students and a few adults.
