Instruments are expensive!

Replacing instruments can be a huge burden for any band program.

Here at Washington Middle School, there are over 130 beginning band students and over 100 intermediate and advanced band students. There are very few who own their own instruments, so the school must provide the instruments for the students to use.

It is so much more beneficial to the students and the program if every student has an instrument to take home to use to practice. However, the beginning band students must share instruments.

We are looking for the following right now:

  • tuba

  • bari-sax

  • tenor sax

We would also like to replace all the rest of the instruments in the next few years.

If you would like to donate instruments or make a monetary donation to help us purchase instruments, please contact Mr. Ujimori

Community Events:

In addition to product sales, the Band Boosters will be arranging for other fundraising opportunities with various community organizations.

Our first event will be on Sunday, July 20, 2014 at the Ukulele Festival from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm at Kapiolani Park. We will be selling KC Drive In Waffledogs and water. Students interested in helping must submit a permission form. We are also looking for some adult help. If you are unable to volunteer, please help us spread the word! The more we sell, the more we will be able to add to the general Band Booster fund. Hope to see you there!

Our second even wil be on Sunday, September 28, 2014. The Boosters and students will be providing shave ice for the riders in the Century Bike Ride at the rest stop in Kailua. We will serve over 1300 small shave ice treats to the riders to cool them off before the last leg of their trek. In return, the Century Bike Ride committee gives the WMS Band Boosters a small monetary donation. We use the money raised to help with operational costs and expenses for the advanced band trip.

If anyone is willing and able to help the band with additional fundraising events, please contact the Band Boosters or Mr. Ujimori.

Successful programs are run by dedicated and hard-working volunteers, but they alone are not enough. Buses, instrument repair, new instrument purchases, music and more can add up to a pretty penny!

Each year, the Band Boosters organize fundraising events to help the WMS Band fund it's many activities. Please join us in our efforts to provide the best for our students.

If you would like to donate directly to the Band Boosters, please send your contributions to the WMS Bandroom in care of the WMS Band Boosters. You can also help us by purchasing our fundraising items and by coming to our fundraising activities throughout the year.
